Chapel Park: Parking On The Streets

Here is a comment from a neighbor:

"As a new homeowner in Chapel Park, my main concerns are peaople parking on the strets. especially at the end of my street chapel lake south #213 and another one across the street. To pay to live in a community is to expect what is promised. no cars on streets!! when eill this be fixed?"

Dear Jim Hawkins,

I am currently looking at moving and your community is one of my options. I really enjoy the community however I drive to work at 5:30 AM every morning and do not come home till 5:30 PM. My wife does not leave the house as early as I do which means sometimes she will also arrive later then I. On top of that the child seat is in her car so we take her car out if we go out as a family. Do the math I leave early in morning so my car needs to be in front of the driveway, she arrives later so she would be parked in front of my car and im sorry but im not playing musical driveway every frickin day just to please you cuz you dont want to use a street as a parking space!

Yes, but you are not technically parking on your property. Your lot starts where from the sidewalk back. Even the mailbox is in an easement. And, you have a garage so why don't you utilize that. If she leaves after you then do the math, its simple let her park first then you second. And if she gets home later then you park in the street and later on you move your car to park afterwards. I am moving into the area as well and I am requesting to be on the committee. It is ridiculous how people park in the street, especially if you have a two car garage which is supposed to be for cars not junk. I will not hesitate one bit not to report those who park in the street. Either that, or just hit your car one good time and it will be over with!!!

It must be nice to have so little else to worry about in your life that you would severely inconvenience your very own neighbor so that streets - which are plenty wide to accomodate cars being parked and still allow the flow of traffic - would remain clear. This is what is so CHARMING about these neighborhoods... neighbors who really care about one another.

But I am not totally uncaring, so I have included a list of other things you could possibly focus your attention on that don't cause unnecessary pain, hassle, or discomfort for your very own neighbor. Please feel free to fret any combination of the following:

- Global Warming
- The upcoming presidential elections
- Worthy charities in the greater savannah area that are at a lack of funds and volunteers
- Starving Children world-wide

Other, less-important things you may consider, if it is only your minor-concern folder you're looking to fill (as it seems that may be the case):
- What color slacks will match my suit/dress/uniform on Monday?
- Should my next car be blue or gold? Hybrid or fuel-injection?
- What will I buy my mother for Christmas?
- What can I, as a single person, do to TRULY improve my community, and not make a myriad of enemies in the process?

I don't live in the community, but I do drive out to your lovely little haven several times a week to visit clients, and I, myself, was strongly considering purchasing a house there. After reading your militant, rude, and self-righteous rants, I have reconsidered. As I've said, it must be nice to have so very, very few worries in the world, and I'm sure everyone is very happy for your achievements, social status, and future campaign for committee member. Please accept our finest and most hearty golf clap in recognition.
